Green Commitment
Environmental Responsibility - It's a Continuous Effort
Green Commitment: Helping our planet stay healthy is a priority for me and I understand that sustainability and ethical manufacturing are becoming increasingly important to customers. Here are examples of my ongoing efforts to create ethical, sustainable and eco-friendly jewelry.
- Establish relationships with vendors and discuss material sourcing as well as traceability for precious metals and gemstones.
- Argentium Sterling Silver is used as a base for most of my designs. It is not only a wonderful metal to work with, but it can also easily be fused, which produces less harmful fumes during fabrication. Argentium manufacturers are using responsibly sourced, recycled silver in their manufacturing process.
- I prefer to use lab created or simulated gemstones to eliminate workers being exposed to dangerous working conditions in mines and to minimize the impact of natural stone mining on the environment, such as the destruction of land and impact on wildlife.
- In my studio I use the least harmful chemicals I can find for a specific fabrication process.
- Avoiding to place single orders to suppliers to minimize delivery trips and to reduce packaging material in transit.
- Recycle paper, scrap metals and metal dust.
- Create a collection to use left over materials to turn it into "Waste to Brilliance" projects
- The studio garden is wildlife certified with the National Wildlife Foundation to help birds, butterflies, bees and pollinators.
